Job description

Well-established client based in the Brackenfell area has an opportunity for a dynamic Sales Manager to join their team. Previous experience in the Steel industry will be a definite advantage.

 

Requirements:

  • National Diploma level with commerce, sales, and marketing preferable
  • 3 years of commercial experience (preferably in the steel environment)
  • 3 years sales management experience (desirable)
  • Drivers License
  • Target driven
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to work in a pressured environment

Duties include but are not limited to:

Contribute to and implement the sales strategy
  • Actively contribute to Sales Strategy planning
  • Actively plan to achieve Sales and Margin budgets
  • Plan and lead weekly Sales Meetings
  • Communicate all important information timeously and effectively with full Sales Team
  • Feedback data from customers and the market for input to planning
  • Identify potential untapped markets and product ranges
Implement the sales plan
  • Long and short term plans implemented in consultation with the Branch Manager
  • Targets set in consultation with the Branch Manager
  • Sales call cycles allocated to the team, both internal and external sales
  • Leads and sales opportunities are followed up to obtain new customers
  • All team and customer admin and documentation managed as per Company processes
  • Plans to be reviewed and adjusted depending on the market environment
  • Targets are met by sales staff according to the weekly plan and budget
  • Calling cycles, Call planning, and all reporting updated on a weekly basis
  • Frequent calling on customers on your own, and with your sales team members, to build relationships and loyalty is a critical aspect of this role
  • Valve business increased in line with company strategy and growth objectives
  • Gross margins maintained through the management of deals and discounts
  • Business plans with customers implemented
  • Plans implemented within agreed budget parameters
  • Customer queries and problems resolved
Manage and develop the Sales Team
  • Inspire and motivate the team
  • Manage all HR aspects related to the Sales Team
  • Manage Sales Team grievances and complaints
  • Manage Sales Team performance
  • Identify Sales Team training needs
  • Recruit talented Sales Staff
Monitor sales performance
  • Plan and run effective sales meetings with agendas and deliverables conducted
  • Plans are reviewed and adjusted depending on the market environment
    Sales rep targets are set and met
  • Customer Calls recorded on standard daily report templates
  • Weekly and monthly sales reports submitted on time according to an agreed format
  • Sales Reps provided feedback on performance.
Forecasting and stock ordering
  • Input on all SIA forecasting
  • Submit proposed order volumes to Branch Manager and buying
  • departments timeously
  • Manage monthly Buy-Out volumes
  • Buy-Outs to be completed as per Buy-Out process
Leadership team
  • Attend weekly meetings
  • Feedback on all relevant information from the sales team and customers.
  • Implement agreed actions and provide feedback to the Sales team
  • Provide feedback to the Leadership team on the implementation of agreed deliverables
Stakeholder Relations
  • Communicate effectively with all departments in Johannesburg e.g. interbranch transfers, stock planning, etc.
  • Implement national initiatives such as excess stock promotions effectively
  • Focus team on spending time with the customer in person and via the phone
  • Increased sales volumes negotiated
  • Customer queries and problems resolved effectively
  • Identify preferred suppliers for stock buyouts
  • Customer status information is available
  • Invoices paid on time
  • New accounts processed accurately with agreed time frames
  • Credit process adhered to at all times
  • Bad debts reduced
  • Support Warehouse team in delivering accurate stock takes
  • Ensure Sales Team support and comply with all Warehouse processes & systems
Finance
  • Potential areas of saving and optimization highlighted
  • Expenditure aligns with budget
  • Meaningful variance analysis reports provided
