Location: Cape Town, Western Cape
The Department of Community Safety, Western Cape Government is looking for an individual to monitor policing in the Western Cape. The individual must be well acquainted with the monitoring of the South African Police Service (SAPS) from a managerial (Commissioned Officer) and/or oversight perspective. This position is based in Cape Town.
• A National Diploma/B-Degree qualification (as recognised by SAQA) in policing field; • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in policing or the monitoring of policing, the criminal justice environment including but not limited to monitoring, evaluation, research and policy development.
• Police experience; • Police supervision experience; • Monitoring and Evaluation;• A valid driver’s licence; • Willingness to work irregular hours and work away from the office.
Key Performance Areas:
• Responsible for conducting oversight over the SAPS; • Execute special and ad hoc tasks; • Execute monitoring and evaluation of departmental safety projects; • Ensure effective resource and knowledge management.
• Skills in analysis of police information; • Organising and strategic planning skills; • Human Resource planning skills which includes team-building and motivational skills; • Knowledge of the following: o Policing; o Government legislation; o Monitoring and evaluation system/procedures.
Remuneration: R 311 784 – R 367 254 per annum, Salary Level 9
Note on remuneration:
Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.
MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
