Minimum educational qualification:
General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) or Grade 9 (Std. 7).

Appropriate experience with regard to electronic switchboard.
Appropriate knowledge and experience in Switchboard operations.

Inherent requirement of the job:
Must be prepared to work day and night shifts, over weekends and on public holidays.

Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Ability to function individually and as part of a team.
Understanding the switchboard process.
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

Duties (key result areas/outputs):
Receive calls, and make outgoing calls.
Handle the PA system.
Direct calls to the appropriate sections and staff.
Deal with general queries.
Report all faults and problems with switchboard operation to the supervisor.
